System requirements
Purple Dragon runs on Windows, macOS and Linux, with NVIDIA, AMD Radeon, Intel and Apple graphics.
To play
| Minimum | Recommended | |
|---|---|---|
| Operating system | Windows 10 (64-bit) · macOS 12 · Linux x86-64 | Windows 11 · macOS 14 or later · a current Linux |
| Processor | Any 64-bit dual-core (Intel Pentium Silver, Celeron, AMD Athlon) | Quad-core: Intel Core i5 / AMD Ryzen 5 or better, Apple M1 or later |
| Memory | 8 GB | 16 GB |
| Graphics | Intel UHD 600 · AMD Radeon R7 / built-in Radeon · NVIDIA GeForce GTX 750 Ti · any Apple Mac with Metal | NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2060 · AMD Radeon RX 5600 · Intel Arc A750 · Apple M2 or later |
| Graphics API | Vulkan, Direct3D 12 (Windows) or OpenGL 3.3 · Metal on Macs | Vulkan with up-to-date drivers |
| Storage | 4 GB free (a 1.8 GB download, 2 GB installed) | An SSD, for faster loading |
| Network | A connection to the game server (the local network, or the internet) | Wired or good Wi-Fi |
| Controls | Keyboard and mouse | A mouse with a wheel |
At the minimum, expect the Very low or Low quality preset at around 30 frames a second; the game lowers its own resolution to keep moving. Keep laptops plugged in: on battery, Windows slows the graphics down.
Graphics cards and quality
The first time it starts, the game picks a quality preset for your graphics card. You can change it any time in Settings › Graphics.
| Ultra | NVIDIA RTX 3080 / 4070 and up, AMD RX 6800 / 7700 and up |
|---|---|
| High | NVIDIA RTX 2060-4060, AMD RX 5600-6700, Intel Arc A750/A770, Apple M2 and later |
| Medium | NVIDIA GTX 1060-1660, AMD RX 470-590, Intel Arc A380, Apple M1 |
| Low | NVIDIA MX / GT, older GTX, built-in Radeon (Ryzen laptops), Intel Iris Xe, any card on OpenGL |
| Very low | Intel UHD and HD Graphics (Pentium, Celeron), computers with under 6 GB of memory |
Graphics drivers
- NVIDIA: GeForce driver 470 or newer (from nvidia.com or GeForce Experience).
- AMD Radeon: Adrenalin 22.x or newer (from amd.com). Older Radeon HD cards play on OpenGL.
- Intel: the latest driver from intel.com or Windows Update.
- Linux: Mesa 22 or newer (AMD, Intel) or NVIDIA's own driver, with Vulkan installed.
The game uses Vulkan and falls back by itself to Direct3D 12 or OpenGL when a card or driver can't. If it flickers, crashes or shows wrong colours, choose another in Settings › Graphics › Graphics API.
